A New Story in the OP Storywalk!

Come enjoy Cartolessia and the Magical Garden, a story written and illustrated by OP's kindergarten, first, and second grade classes. This is a result of a creative writing activity students worked on in the garden with Mrs. Bullock. We are so proud of your students' collaborative efforts in creating this. They had tons of great ideas, and their pictures bring the story to life. This story will be installed in OP's StoryWalk. The StoryWalk has fifteen numbered stations. It starts at the flagpole, heads toward the media center and wraps the whole way around the building with the fifteenth station in front of the technology trailer in the back of the building.

OP Principal Profile Meeting

Dear Olde Providence Elementary Community,

As you are probably aware, Principal Johanson announced her retirement effective July 1st. We thank Principal Johanson for her leadership and commitment to our students, staff, and families at Olde Providence, and we wish her all of the best in retirement.

The Central Learning Community is requesting your participation in the principal hiring process for Olde Providence Elementary School. We would like to invite you to attend the Principal Profile meeting scheduled for Monday, May 8, 2023 at 6:00p.m via zoom. The Zoom link is provided below.

As a part of the principal profile meeting, the Central Learning Community will present information to you as it relates to the principal hiring process in CMS, and we will also ask you for your feedback regarding the leadership characteristics that you are looking for in the next principal for Olde Providence Elementary.

The process should take about 90 minutes. Your presence at the virtual meeting is voluntary and if you are unable to attend at the scheduled time, you will have the opportunity to give your feedback through a survey that will be communicated at a later date. Order your BBQ today for pick up at The Q Shack on Sunday, April 2nd! opesfoundation.org Pre-orders will be available through Friday, 3/31 at midnight. You cannot order after 3/31, so place your order today! Pick up is Sunday 4/2 from 2-4pm at The Q Shack. Purchase a Family Pack, then select two sides for free when checking out. Dear Parents,
it is with mixed emotions that I write to inform you that I will be leaving Olde Providence Elementary and retiring this year. As many of you know, my wife Marie has been dealing with very serious health issues. She has been in the hospital since December 7th and is now back in the ICU. This has been hard for my family and me. I have been blessed to be a part of the OP community. In the past 10 years, you have given me the opportunity to teach, get to know your kids, and embrace them as if they were my own. I will miss each one of them, especially our conversations, their laughter, and their growth. June 12th will be my official last working day at OP. I cherish my time spent at OP and will miss you all.

OP IS THE PLACE TO READ! Thank you to Mrs. Rearick for this snapshot of the mid-year library stats at OP. So far, your students have checked out 22,144 books! A special shout to our top class, Ms. Laird, as well as Ms. Parker whose students make up half of our top 11! HOW COOL IS THAT?!

 

Girls on the Run

Girls on the Run begins in February! Open to girls in grades 3rd through 5th, with practices on Mondays and Thursdays. Cost is $170. Season-culminating 5K celebration is set for April 30th!
